Talking at Confoo 2010, Montreal, Canada

On Monday 27 December 2010 in Symfony, PHP / AFUP, Meetings / Conferences

The last week, I was glad to know I was choosen by the Confoo staff members to give two french talks about Symfony2 and Continuous integration with PHP & Hudson from wednesday 9th to friday 11th in Montreal, Canada. The conference will take place at the Hilton Bonaventure hotel in the heart of Montreal.

But before the event, I will also give one Symfony2 training on monday 7th and tuesday 8th.

ConFoo Web Techno Conference

The Confoo is one of the biggest PHP and webdevelopment events in the world regrouping more than 140 conference tracks during three days. Again, the schedule looks pretty interesting as lots of great international speakers will be present to speak about PHP, Ruby, Python, CMS, Java, SCM and CI tools, best practices, semantic web...

I will have the chance to meet most of PHP and web experts like Rob Allen (Zend Framework contributor), Sebastian Bergmann (PHPUnit developer), Denis Boudreau (Accessiblité Web), Karl Dubost (Opera Softwares), Daniel Glazman (CSS expert), Stefan Priebsch (PHP Quality), Andreï Ziemski... and so on.

Of course, I will also meet again some experts I have already met in real life at the PHP Forum 2010 (Derick Rethans, Ilia Alshanetsky, Frédéric Hardy), at the Symfony Live 2010/2011 (Jordi Boggiano, Alvaro Videla) or at the AFUP (Christophe Villeneuve, Damien Séguy) and around a drink (Philippe Gamache, Raphaël Goetter...).

For now, I don't know exactly which talks I will take the time to watch but for sure I will spend my time with conferences about best practices, design patterns, unit testing, security, caching and frameworks of course.

I will also be part of the speakers list and I will give two PHP talks in french. The first one is about Symfony2. I will try to demonstrate how and why the Symfony2 is a PHP framework dedicated to the enterprise world.

My second talk will introduce how to setup a continuous integration server for a PHP project based on Hudson technology and best PHP tools like PHPUnit, PHP_CodeSniffer, PHPDocumentor...

"I will also give one Symfony2 training on monday 7th and tuesday 8th."

Can you provide more info about the training sessions?
How can we register?

Merci

Hi Pascal,

You will be able to register to this training in the coming weeks as Confoo staff doesn't open registrations yet. So, keep in touch with them on confoo.ca website.

I think the training will cost around $600 CAD for the two days. The Symfony2 training will be giving in french and will cover the basics of the framework:

* Object Oriented Programming fundamentals
* MVC architecture
* Dependency Injection
* Best practices
* Rendering content with Symfony2 and Twig
* Sending and reading cookies
* Fixing and reading sessions variables
* Forms processing
* ...

Doctrine2 won't be learned as all the session will focus on Symfony2.

Cheers.
