Speaking at OSIDays & Paris-Web

Le lundi 01 août 2011 dans Symfony, PHP / AFUP, Meetings / Conferences

In a previous post, I announced I will be at SymfonyDay in Cologne to give a Symfony2 workshop. In the last weeks, I received confirmations for talking around the world before the end of the year. Indeed, thanks to my company Sensio Labs, I will be speaking at the Open World Forum (Paris) in September, SymfonyDay (Cologne) and Paris-Web (Paris) in October, OSIDays (Bangalore) and PHPTour (Lille) in November.

I'm really excited to talk at these great conferences events this year and meet some of the best PHP experts in the world. The talks I will be giving there are not only related to Symfony2. For the first time, I will be speaking about various PHP subjects like micro-framework with Silex, data persistence and database design patterns.

From September 22nd to 24th, I will be speaking at the Open World Forum in Paris. The Open World Forum is a famous french conferences event dedicated to web technologies. This event is supported by the Minister of Industry, Energy and Digital Economy in France. The subject of my talk will be a french introduction to the Symfony2 framework.

In October, I already have two conferences events scheduled in my calendar. First, I will be at the french Paris-Web conference from Thursday 13th to Saturday 15th. On Saturday 15th, I will give a 3 hours workshop in French to a dozen of people about HTTP caching. This practical talk will explain the main principles of HTTP caching like headers, server side and client side caching, Edge Side Includes and reverse proxy caches like Varnish...

On Thursday, 20th of October, I will be then at Symfony Day in Cologne (Germany) to give a Symfony2 & Doctrine2 workshop to a dozen of attendees. I will also probably give a talk on Friday, 21st if the selection committee accepts one of my submitted talks.

November will also be full of enjoyment with two main conferences events in France and abroad. I will first be giving three PHP talks in English at OSIDays in Bangalore (India) from Sunday, 20th to Tuesday 22nd. The three talks are the following:

  • The History of PHPersistence goes back in the past to (re)discover how data persistence has changed during the last decade with the introduction of object oriented programming APIs, PDO and new ORM libraries.
  • Modern Database Design Patterns in the PHP World will show some of the well known database design patterns (Data Mapper, Row Data Gateway, Active Record...) referenced by Martin Fowler and applied in PHP.
  • Easy SOAP & REST with Silex will introduce how the Silex microframework can help to setup and expose web services in SOAP and REST. This session will also take several web services related topics into account like data validation, error handling and caching.

Finally, I will end up my conferences cycle with the PHPTour in Lille organized by the AFUP from November 24th to 25th. I will be presenting my Symfony2 introduction talk in Lille (France).
